Chamonix Triathlon Training

When we decided to build BlackRock Ski Lodge we realised that as well as providing a luxurious location for skiing holidays it would be the perfect base for Chamonix triathlon training camps.

We are passionate triathletes and want to share the best swim, bike, run locations that the Valley has to offer. Just staying at the Lodge, which sits at 1000m above sea level, we know, helps to kick-start improvements in stamina.

Chamonix - Triathlon Training Ground Extraordinaire

What makes BlackRock such a great training location is the ease of access to fantastic facilities and extra-ordinary terrain, all of which complete with stunning views of Mont Blanc Massif.

Swim Training – Choose from Chamonix’s 50m open air lap pool or for an open water option, the kilometre-long Lake Passy or the wonderful pools in Les Contamines.

Cycle Training – The local map reads like a list of Tour de France stages and the choices are endless. From the Lodge you can ride the Col du Montets (1461m), the Col des Aravis (1486m) and the Col du Forclaz (1526). The Col de la Colombiere (1613m) and col du Joux Plane (1691m) are also accessible as a longer ride or with the addition of bike support.

Run Training – There are hundreds of kilometres of undulating forest, mountain and riverside trails accessible from our doorstep. Train at altitude along the Great Balcons at between 2,000 and 3,000 metres, factor in strength building hills sessions just outside the back door or head down to Chamonix’s 300m sprung running track for speed and interval training.

Mont Blanc Triathlon 2017

Not unsurprisingly the backdrop for the Mont Blanc Triathlon is as picturesque as it sounds.

One of our favourite triathlons, this August event has grown in recent years to offer a fantastic mix of distances so there really is something to suite everyone from novice triathlete to endurance professionals.

There are also races for children aged 8-11 or 12-15, opening up the possibility of family triathlon holiday and the chance to introduce the next generation of athletes to this amazing sport. Or if you want to create the perfect family activity holiday we can help with that too.

Evergreen Triathlon 2017

An exceptional race, Evergreen Triathlon 2017 is set to be the biggest event to date. It takes place between X and Y and comprises of three distinct events 228, 118 and 58 of which we are proud to be supporters.

Evergreen 228 – a 4km swim in Lac de Montriond in Morzine followed by a 190km cycle through the Alps of the Haute Savoie in a route which includes the Cols de Joux Plane, de Romme de la Colombière, la Croix Fry, des Aravis and the Côte de Vaudagne and a 42.1km trail run through the winding mountain trails in a loop around Chamonix via Montenvers, Plan de l’Aiguille, Planprax and Flégère. The route has a positive height gain of over 7,850m.
